Destiny reached out to Providence House after her teenage son, Michael, was assaulted by their neighbor.
She needed to move her family somewhere safe and help Michael through his traumatic experience.
Since all of the Family Shelters were full, Destiny brought her younger children to stay in the safe, loving environment of our Crisis Nursery while she worked to find a new home for her family.
While Destiny’s younger children were safe and cared for at Providence House, our Social Work Team helped refer Michael to support services, including connecting him with the Children Who Witness Violence Program.
With the support of Providence House, Destiny secured a safe, new home for her family, and our Social Work Team referred her to our friends at Humble Design who helped furnish it!
When her family reunited, Destiny told us, “I am very appreciative for all the help and support from Providence House and cannot thank them enough.
At times, I felt like there was no hope, but Nora(her Providence House Social Worker) always spoke positively, listened, and helped me get through things that my family and I endured. I am forever grateful.”
Pamela, Cameron & Carter
Pamela and her sons, Cameron, age 5, and Carter, age 3, were homeless and living in a hotel when she reached out to Providence House for support.

Pamela and her sons, Cameron, age 5, and Carter, age 3, were homeless and living in a hotel when she reached out to Providence House for support.
Cameron and Carter came to stay in our Crisis Nursery while our Social Work Team helped Pamela address her trauma symptoms, secure stable housing for her family, and receive SNAP Benefits to assist with groceries.
During their stay at Providence House, Cameron and Carter enjoyed music, theatre, and art therapy and lots of love and snuggles from our Childcare Staff. Carter made great progress with his language and cognitive development thanks to interventions provided by our Social Workers and Child Development Specialist, who also helped enroll him in school!
The boys soon reunited with their mom, Pamela, in their new home and Providence House provided bedding and household supplies to help them get settled. Their family will continue receiving support through our year-long Aftercare Program including gifts for the boys to enjoy for the holidays!
Diamond & Cameron
Diamond was feeling anxious and overwhelmed after her 6-week-old son, Cameron, was diagnosed with Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease. She was referred to Providence House by MetroHealth so she could begin mental health treatment and secure employment.

Cameron stayed at Providence House in our Pediatric Crisis Nursery, where he received loving care, all of his medications, specific formula, and breast milk. Diamond maintained Cameron’s medical care by taking him to medical appointments during the six weeks he was at Providence House. She and Cameron’s father visited him in person and virtually through Zoom.
During that time, Diamond worked with our social work team through family preservation services including parent education, case management, and trauma services. She stayed connected with therapy and psychology services through MetroHealth and obtained her “dream job” as a chef!
When Diamond and Cameron were reunited, he was doing well developmentally, laughing, rolling over, and holding his head up!
Diamond accomplished all of her goals while working with Providence House and enrolled in our Aftercare Program.
Bianca, Ariel & Sam
Bianca and her young children, Ariel and Sam, were at risk of becoming homeless as she struggled to pay nearly $2,000 in back rent.

Bianca and her young children, Ariel and Sam, were at risk of becoming homeless as she struggled to pay nearly $2,000 in back rent. And without reliable childcare for Ariel and Sam, Bianca had limited employment opportunities.
She turned to Providence House for support after hearing about our Family Preservation services from a family we had worked with previously.
While Ariel and Sam received 24/7 loving care in our Crisis Nursery, our Social Work Team helped Bianca access resources to catch up on rent payments and avoid eviction. As she worked with Providence House to enhance stability for her family, Bianca applied for and received a childcare scholarship and began a new job!
Ariel continued attending school while staying with us and enjoyed fun activities and field trips as her baby brother, Sam, got lots of snuggles and learned to roll over!
The kiddos soon reunited with their mom and went home with a stronger foundation for their future!
Lauren & Jamie
Single Mom, Lauren, was grieving the loss of her daughter and her 8-year-old son, Jamie, who is diagnosed with Autism and ADHD, was struggling with his sister’s passing.

Single Mom, Lauren, was grieving the loss of her daughter and her 8-year-old son, Jamie, who is diagnosed with Autism and ADHD, was struggling with his sister’s passing. Lauren needed help caring for Jamie during this difficult time for her family while also looking for safer housing for them both.
Lauren brought Jamie to stay at Providence House where he was surrounded by the loving support of our Childcare Team. They helped him make progress in regulating his emotions and interacting with other children. Jamie continued going to his regular school each day and also participated music, theatre, and art therapy classes at Providence House through the Beck Center for the Arts. The stimulation, social interaction, and daily routine at Providence House helped Jamie thrive and enhance his development.
While Jamie stayed with us, his mom, Lauren, received case management support from our Social Work Team and was able to secure new housing for their family with resources to pay her security deposit.
Lauren and Jamie reunited in their new home and Providence House provided a new bed for Jamie through a donation as well as some important household items to help give them a strong start!
